BioWhat's to know? I'm a geek. I'm a writer. I'm a programmer who doesn't really have as much time to write as I wish I did.
I've been writing for about 12 years now. No, *thinks*... Fifteen years... Geez... I have to say my early stuff, when I was still in High School, was complete schlock... And I don't mean something decent like Schlock Mercenary, I mean was just plain bad. No coherent plot layout, just kinda went with stream of consciousness writing, which is good if you have an overall plan and can keep yourself reigned in. If not, stories go south REALLY quick. Trust me on this.
I'm working on my ongoing series, Divergent Destines, which is a non-powered, Xander-Centric universe, starting in season two and following mostly in parallel until the formal Divergence sometime shortly after the time of Glory's death. I've also got several other stories I work on in spurts when my Muse is being prolific... Or Loud... Sometimes she just latches onto something and won't let it go... There's another new story I'm working on which my Muse started clamoring for... I'm up to chapter 7 at the moment, and as soon as I get the next couple done, then I'll post it all...
I tend to write character driven stories, no matter what verse I'm working in. I've got three of my own BTVS fanfic universes in various stages (Divergent Destinies, Fallen From Grace, and An Eternal War) which all have published stories. One of them (Divergent Destinies) is open to guest contributors and my new place is going to be as well, which is why I'm getting all the setup done before I post it. I'm also a contributing author in the Journeyverse, where I again tend to stick to character development pieces. I have one currently underway over there, which I really need to get done before the head of the verse gets too irritated with me.
As a character driven writer, as well as fan, I tend to like arcs or characters which have alot of potential for character development. It's wierd though.. All the shows I write about at this point are cancelled... Unless you count a crossover thats happening in Divergent Destinies at the moment. It's my opinion that its very difficult for shows to maintain a high quality of writing. Either they alter the show to try and attract a certain demographic, or the suits in the production company meddle with things. One of the best shows on TV, in my opinion, was Babylon 5, and that was because JMS had the whole thing figured out and he stuck to his vision. That's why alot of fanfic writers who were Babylon 5 fans shy away from writing in that verse. It was done right the first time.
Shows I considered myself a fan of: Tour of Duty, Man and Machine (if you have this on DVD or softcopy let me know... My tapes are ruined and I really want to replace them), Friday the 13th: The Series, War of the Worlds: The Series, Highlander: The Series, CSI(Vegas), Buffy, Farscape (even though I missed alot), Babylon 5, Andromeda(the earlier seasons), Stargate(SG-1 and Atlantis), Firefly (Even though I missed it when it aired originally), Space: Above and Beyond, Brisco County, and both incarnations of Battlestar Galactica.
Movies: I love horror and sci-fi. 90% of my DVD collection is sci-fi or horror. Some of it good, some of it bad. All of it fun to watch.
Favorite Printed Works: Honor Harrington Series by David Weber (well, ok pretty much ALL of David Weber's Work), Novels of the SERRAted Edge (and similar), Brotherhood of War by W.E.B. Griffin, the Falkenberg's Legion Series.
